Extended Deep Plane Facelift

Deep Dive into Beauty

Savannah Extended Deep Plane Facelift at Savannah Facial Plastic Surgery

Unlike the SMAS Facelift that addresses the Superficial Muscular Aponeurotic System, the Deep Plane technique involves going below both the skin and the muscle, into the supportive structures of the mid-face. By manipulating the muscular layer, rather than just the skin, Dr. Minton is able to create a natural, tension free appearance and feel, whereas traditional facelift techniques can sometimes leave patients with the dreaded “pulled face” look. This surgery is almost always performed in conjunction with a DeepNeck lift. The first step to achieving your aesthetic dreams is scheduling your consultation. During your consultation, Dr. Minton will spend at least 30 minutes hearing your goals and concerns, after which he will counsel you on your options and you will receive pricing and surgical scheduling availability. One of the most important things to consider when choosing the right surgeon for a Deep Plane Facelift is if their results align with your goals. For a full catalog of Dr. Minton’s Before and After Deep Plane Facelift procedure results, click here.

Sculpted Sophistication

Your Extended Deep Plane Facelift Procedure

A Extended Deep Plane Facelift is a very personalized process that, if you qualify for, will be determined by yourself and Dr. Minton. Generally, you can expect:

Anesthesia

Before the start of the surgery, anesthesia is administered to the patient to ensure there’s no pain or discomfort during the surgery. Typically during an Extended Deep Plane Facelift, general anesthesia is given to ensure patient comfort. Local and topical anesthesia may also be considered depending on the depth of your facelift. Depending on the type of anesthesia, you may need someone to drive you home following the procedure.

Incisions and procedure

Prior to your surgery, Dr. Minton will determine the best places on your face to do the incisions. One thing that sets Deep Plane apart from other facelifts is that the technique only lifts under the muscle layer, leaving the skin attached to the muscle layers. The procedure also lifts the cheeks by releasing the binding points of the face in the “deep plane” (the area on the face that separates the superficial soft tissue envelope from the deeper muscle layers) so that any additional fat or filler is unnecessary.

Sealing the incisions

The incisions will be sealed with the help of absorbable or normal stitches in order to help them heal and keep out any germs to help prevent infection.

Extended Deep Plane Facelift Results

One of the most remarkable aspects of Extended Deep Plane Facelift results is the natural-looking rejuvenation it provides. Patients don't merely look younger; they look like the best version of themselves. This technique addresses deep tissue layers, allowing for a smooth, harmonious outcome without the telltale signs of a facelift. With the longevity of results, patients can enjoy their refreshed appearance for years to come.

The Extended Deep Plane Facelift's comprehensive approach targets multiple facets of facial aging, ensuring a lasting impact that defies the passage of time. The renewed facial contours, defined jawline, and improved neck appearance contribute to a profound boost in self-confidence. Patients often find themselves not only looking younger but also feeling more vibrant and self-assured, both in personal and professional settings.

After the Procedure

Extended Deep Plane Facelift Recovery and Aftercare

After an Extended Deep Plane Facelift, a bandage is placed over the face to minimize bruising and swelling. Effects of the procedure vary from patient to patient. You may experience some bruising and swelling. Dr. Minton will provide careful instructions regarding how to care for the incisions, what medications need to be taken during recovery, follow-up appointments, and any temporary lifestyle changes that may help with recovery.

For example, you may be asked to rest your head at an incline for the first week or two to help with swelling. This can be done with the help of multiple pillows beneath your head. Additionally, you will be asked to avoid any intense physical activities, exposure to the sun, excess touching of the face, certain medications, and smoking. When you start to see results also varies from patient to patient. As time progresses, you should start to see visible improvements to your face and/or neckline, leaving you with a long-lasting, natural look.

Frequently Asked Questions

This technique for a facelift takes anywhere between two and a half hours to three hours.

Dr. Minton will give you specific instructions to follow after your surgery. This may include keeping your head elevated at all times, including night, and avoiding strenuous activity for up to four weeks. Most patients feel well enough to return to normal activities within seven to 10 days. Most patients will have enough bruising and swelling improvement to be out in public comfortably within 2 weeks following the procedure.

The patient doesn’t feel anything during the procedure. Following surgery, you may experience swelling, bruising, and discomfort that will steadily improve over the course of three to five weeks.

The goal for every facelift is to provide the patient with the most natural-looking and longest-lasting results. This includes making incisions in areas where they are not noticeable. Additionally, facelift scars tend to heal flat and close to the skin’s natural coloring, making them virtually invisible.
