Do Something for You

Dysport at Savannah Facial Plastic Surgery

With diverse offerings for minimally invasive facial rejuvenation, we make it easy to fit aesthetic self-care into your life. Dysport is a popular injectable neuromodulator that smooths out facial wrinkles for months at a time by calming muscle contractions in the area. Dysport and Botox have the same relaxing effect on the facial muscles that can cause wrinkles. Aside from the brand name and a slight difference in the molecular makeup of the product, the procedures and effects are the same. Read on to learn more about the Dysport non-surgical procedure offered at Savannah Facial Plastic Surgery.

Relax Away Wrinkles

What is Dysport?

At Savannah Dysport is a cosmetic injectable formulated with botulinum toxin type A. It is an excellent minimally invasive treatment for reducing the look of wrinkles and fine lines on the forehead, between the eyebrows, and elsewhere on the face.

Patients love Dysport’s ease of application and fast action, with results often appearing within two days. Dysport works by relaxing the muscles responsible for creating wrinkles, smoothing out existing lines, and slowing the formation of new creases for a rejuvenated, youthful appearance.

Nice & Precise

Your Dysport Procedure

Preparation: An initial consultation with one of our specialists is the first step to any procedure. There we will discuss your health history. Medications such as aspirin and ibuprofen should be avoided as they can increase the likelihood of bruising.

The Injection Procedure: The procedure for Dysport is fairly simple and relatively painless. Your expert injector uses a very thin needle to inject small quantities of Dysport into the targeted muscles. The number of injections depends on the intensity of the wrinkles, your facial features, and desired results, all of which we will cover in the initial consultation.

Some injection sites are more sensitive than others, but we can use either ice or a topical anesthetic ointment to help alleviate any minor discomfort, which generally is nothing more than a brief stinging sensation.

Dysport Recovery and Aftercare

The great thing about Dysport is that there’s no downtime after the procedure. You can get back to your normal activities almost immediately, though there may be some initial redness for a few minutes. Temporary bruising may occur, but applying ice packs tends to help. Bruising and any swelling will disappear within a few hours or just a few days. You will begin to see results within a few days, but it will take up to a week to see the complete effect. Dysport will last for three to four months on average.

Dysport Results

Many people have reported a slightly faster onset of results with Dysport compared to Botox. Within a few days, you should see the treated areas begin to smooth out. Dynamic wrinkles and creases may be dramatically reduced or eliminated. Results typically last for three to four months before the effects of the neuromodulator begin to wear off, at which point a touch-up appointment can be scheduled to keep your skin looking smooth and refreshed. Regular treatments with Dysport can slow the formation of new wrinkles and may also train the treated muscles to contract less.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, multiple comparative studies have been done that show both products work effectively, have high patient satisfaction, and have similar durations of effect. Because the molecular makeup of Dysport is less complex than Botox, its effects may be seen at an earlier time period.

Over time, our repeated facial movements create fine lines and wrinkles. Dysport restricts muscular nerve signals, helping the overworked muscles relax. This allows the skin to become smooth again.

Dysport is a very safe treatment with very few risks or complications. However, it should not be used on women who are pregnant or nursing. Dysport should not be used with some medications, which is why it’s important to give your aesthetic specialist information about any and all medications you are taking.

After the initial consultation, a series of Dysport injections only takes about 15 minutes.

The effects of Dysport are temporary, but they will generally last three to four months.

Sometimes “touch-up” injections are needed to get the best results. If you aren’t 100% satisfied with the procedure, we encourage you to come for a follow-up visit. However, you’ll want to wait about two weeks in order to see the full effects of the treatment.

Unlike surgery, the effects of Dysport are not permanent, so it is not considered an alternative to surgery, but Dysport can prolong the need for surgery. Additionally, it can be used as a way to “preview” the results of more permanent procedures.
