Smooth, Youthful Volume

What is Juvederm?

Juvederm is an injectable gel fill comprised of hyaluronic acid, which is a naturally occurring substance in our bodies. It’s ideal for filling fine lines and deeper wrinkles, creating a smoother, more youthful appearance. Juvederm also restores volume and structure, which we tend to lose as we age.

Hyaluronic acid (HA) adds hydration and volume to our skin and is commonly used to treat arthritic joints and repair wounds. When carefully administered by an aesthetic specialist, the synthetic HA in Juvederm plumps up the skin to reduce lines and hollows. The process is quick, and the results are immediate.

Simply Refreshed

Your Juvederm Procedure

Preparation: An initial consultation is the first step in any procedure. There we will discuss your health history. Medications such as aspirin and ibuprofen should be avoided as they can increase the likelihood of bruising.

The Injection Procedure: The procedure for Juvederm is fairly simple and relatively painless. We use a very thin needle to inject Juvederm into the targeted areas. The number of injections depends on the intensity of the wrinkles, your facial features, and desired results—all of which we will cover in the initial consultation.

Some injection sites are more sensitive than others, but we may anesthetize the area before injection to help alleviate any minor discomfort.

Prepare to Glow

Juvederm Recovery and Aftercare

The great thing about Juvederm is that there’s no downtime after the procedure. You can get back to your normal activities almost immediately, though there may be some initial redness for a few minutes. Temporary bruising may occur, but applying ice packs tends to help. Bruising and any swelling will disappear within a few hours or just a few days. You will begin to see results immediately. Juvederm will last for 6 to 9 months on average.

Full Confidence

Juvederm Results

Juvederm delivers stunning, natural-looking results that begin to become noticeable immediately after treatment. Once injected, the gel adds volume and smooths out wrinkles, leaving you with a refreshed and youthful appearance. Over the next few days to weeks, you'll notice the full effects as any initial swelling or redness subsides. The longevity of Juvederm's results is impressive, lasting anywhere from six to nine months, depending on the specific product used and individual factors. This extended duration makes Juvederm an excellent choice for those seeking long-lasting facial rejuvenation without the need for frequent touch-ups. Say hello to a more youthful you, courtesy of Juvederm!

Frequently Asked Questions

Both Juvederm and Botox are injectables that improve the look of wrinkles. They’re also both produced by the same company, Allergan. Whereas Botox relaxes the muscles that cause wrinkling, Juvederm fills in the areas, creating a more natural plumpness. Your aesthetic specialist can recommend which injectable is right for you to best achieve your desired results.

There are specific formulations of Juvederm in order to tailor the treatment to a patient’s unique needs. For instance, Juvederm Ultra uses a thinner gel to treat fine lines and wrinkles, whereas Juvederm Ultra Plus uses a thicker gel ideal for plumping and treating deeper lines and wrinkles. Juvederm Voluma restores volume when injected into the cheek area. We can assess which treatment is right for your needs.

Juvederm is a very safe treatment with very few risks or complications. However, it should not be used on women who are pregnant or nursing. Juvederm should not be used with some medications, which is why it’s important to give us information about any and all medications you are taking.

After the initial consultation, a Juvederm treatment only takes about 15 minutes.

Will it hurt?Juvederm is injected using a very fine needle, so while there is some initial discomfort–like a sting–it’s brief. We can use ice or a topical anesthesia to help ease any discomfort.

The effects of Juvederm are temporary, but they will generally last 6 to 9 months. We may recommend a follow-up treatment to prolong the effects.

Sometimes “touch-up” injections are needed to get the best results. If you aren’t 100% satisfied with the procedure, we encourage you to call Savannah Facial Plastic Surgery to schedule a follow-up visit.

Unlike surgery, the effects of Juvederm are not permanent, so it is not considered an alternative to surgery, but Juvederm can prolong the need for surgery. Additionally, it can be used as a way to “preview” the results of more permanent procedures.
