Consider PRP skin rejuvenation therapy for improved skin tone and texture
Platelet-rich plasma, or PRP, is a component of your blood that contains special proteins that stimulate new cell growth and help the body to heal itself. It’s a natural product created from your own body. When injected into specific areas of the skin, PRP acts as a medium that promotes your own collagen to grow and regenerate tissue therefore naturally smoothing and tightening the skin.
The goal of PRP skin rejuvenation therapy is to improve skin tone and texture, tighten skin and soften lines and pores.
IDEAL CANDIDATES
You may be an ideal candidate for PRP skin rejuvenation if you want to regain a more youthful appearance with smoother, even skin. As with all medical procedures, excellent candidates are those in good overall health and who have informed, realistic expectations.
PREPARATION
An initial consultation with Dr. Minton is the first step to any procedure. There, he will discuss your health history and go over the procedure.
THE PRP PROCEDURE
A small amount of blood will be drawn from you and placed in a sterile tube that is spun down in a centrifuge to separate the different components of the blood. Red and white blood cells are divided from the platelets and the plasma. This plasma now contains a higher than normal number of platelets.
While the PRP is being prepared, your skin will be cleansed and prepared for treatment. The procedure is quick, typically 15 minutes total, and relative painless.
AFTER THE PROCEDURE
PRP requires no post procedure care or time off from your daily activities. It’s common to expect mild swelling, redness or bruising but that fades within one to three days. Since PRP is made from your own cells, it virtually eliminates the possibility of negative side effects.
Results begin to show three to four weeks after the treatment session and continue to improve with time. Three treatment sessions are generally recommended, spaced one to two months apart, to achieve the best outcome.
